A Few Things to Consider When Trying to Get Your Ex Back
You haven’t gotten your closure. Or maybe you have and you’re just not satisfied with it. You find yourself thinking about your Ex all of the time and you just can’t seem to stop. You miss everything about your old relationship but you’re not sure if your should try to get your Ex back. Here are a few things you are going to have to think about before you make that step.
Firstly, consider how your relationship was terminated. Was there a violent scene in the mall where one of you broke something and security was called? If your break up was violent or humiliating your chances of getting back together are slim.
Additionally, try to figure out the real reason you guys split in the first place. Think of your big fights and try to remember what they were about when you break down the issues. You will need to know where you went wrong.
Sometimes knowing what went wrong is only the first step to fixing it. The issues you and your Ex had probably remained the same through the entire relationship. A lot of fights may seem like they’re about one thing but really be about the same thing over and over. If your partner yells at you for not washing the dishes, not picking up your socks, and leaving towels on the floor the key problem is that you’re a bit of a slob. Keep this in mind.
This is not to say that the relationship ending was your fault. You have to also consider the things about your partner that drove you crazy. How important were these issues and are they things you can live with having overlooked? Make sure that this is the right person for you.
Again, take another look at yourself. Your habits may have irked your Ex but that doesn’t mean you don’t have good points. Think about the things you need and what you have to give up being with your Ex. Are you happy with letting parts of you go? If not, let go of your Ex.
Break ups are brutal on a lot more than our emotions. They leave us feeling torn and tattered, with our self esteem and our pride dashed. Make sure to take time before you go jumping back into a relationship. Let yourself heal first and then take a look back on what you had. Ask yourself if it’s what you really want.
On the other hand, look at how far both of you has come since you have no longer been together. Do you work and function better with your Ex in you life? If so you need to measure your new found success against the chance of being with that person again. Maybe you just don’t work together.
Trying to get your Ex back should never be done without thinking it through. Whenever two people get together and try to make a life as one there are going to be issues. That’s just part of human nature. But some issues can’t be adjusted to. You have to decide what’s do-able and what isn’t.
